Fabric, Fabric, and...uh...Fabric!

It's nearly the end of the year and I have come down with fabric fever! Finding a new vendor site has had me drooling over batiks for the past few months. A few have inspired me to harass my mother into designing a quilt. The quilt has been drawn and is in the planning stages now. I am so excited to see the finished product and to be able to offer kits!

Second Chance Fabrics recently traveled down south to San Diego where we had a nice warm welcome! We met so many wonderful quilters who were patient enough to sit at the Make It & Take It table with me as we sewed cute Kanzashi flower hair accessories. What a great time! Perhaps you heard about one of the largest power outages known to California....yep, that was in the middle of our show! We truly appreciate the "hard-core" quilters who came to our booth in the murky light to check out our stock. Sending you all love and respect for being good sports! It was an unforgettable time!

Just last weekend we were in Reedley for the Kings River Quilt Guild show where my mother was honored as a featured quilter. Oh, my! I'm not going to lie, it was an incredible amount of work, but it was so worth it! We displayed a selection of quilts that she has made throughout her life - beginning from way back before she knew she was quilting all the way up to the quilt she finished just the night before the show. Her progress has been vast and I am incredibly proud of her. Hearing all the positive compliments about her quilting, especially her unique Biology Themed Quilts from my father's high school classroom, was such a sweet touch. Having our booth and her quilt displays in two separate rooms was the source of great fun for me. Thank you to all of you who ran over to tattle on me for making silly comments about her. It was a wondeful source of amusement during the show!

This week has been incredible also. Thanks to the blog stylings of Kay Mackenzie (www.quiltpuppy.com), and at least two other quilting blogs the traffic on my website has almost quadrupled within the last week! How exciting! As many of you know, my website is my spare time project. I try to fit in updates the best I can around quilt shows or my "day job". I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you for your positive feedback, constructive criticism, and all other communication which has made me sit in front of my computer and begin to work on the site again! As you may see I have completed the batik section that was already posted (with new pretty pictures from my brand new camera) as well as added another 11 of our newest batiks! There is still more to come and I look forward to continuing my work while we are away at shows for the next two weekends. You all inspire me and I am blessed to be able to travel around gathering new quilting friends and family!

As always, best wishes!
